1.Services Provided

The services provided by Ember Skye Editorial (hereinafter referred to as “the Editor”) are outlined in the “Rates and Services” page. The Writer [the client who initiates services] may request something additional, not specified on the Editor’s website; for any additional services not advertised, the Editor may agree to work out a separate arrangement for a nominal fee based on the request.

2. Payment Structure

A down payment of one-third (1/3) of the total estimated cost is required upfront. This down payment will be applied toward the total cost of the services, and no additional fees will be charged. The only exceptions are the micro/flash fiction and resume packages, as these are the lowest cost service and must be paid in full at the time of service.

3. The remaining two-thirds (2/3) of the payment is due upon completion of the services.

We offer another option to pay 1/3 up front, 1/3 halfway, and 1/3 following the completion of services. To receive editorial feedback or any products resulting from commissioned services, all payments must be complete.

4. Invoice and Word Count

The invoice will reflect the total word count mutually agreed upon by the Writer and the Editor at the commencement of the project.

5. Adjustments and Communication

Any adjustments to the word count or payment methods must be communicated within three (3) business days from the project start date. If the Writer opts to pay for fewer words or requires the payment to be split into three (3) installments instead of two (2), the Editor will accommodate these requests, provided they are communicated within the specified timeframe.

6. Cancellation Policy

If the Writer must cancel the project, the cancellation must be communicated within three (3) business days from the project start date. In such cases, the Writer will receive a refund minus a 10% cancellation fee. If the project is canceled after the three (3) business day period, the one-third (1/3) down payment will not be refunded.

7. Confidentiality

The Editor agrees to maintain the confidentiality of all materials and information provided by the Writer. The Editor will not disclose any proprietary information or content without the Writer’s prior consent, except as required by law.

8. Liability Limitation

The Editor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the services provided. The Writer acknowledges that the Editor’s role is to provide feedback and suggestions, and the final decisions regarding the content remain the sole responsibility of the Writer. The Editor does not guarantee any specific outcomes or results from the services rendered.

9. Delivery of Services

Upon receipt of the final payment, the Writer will receive all deliverables agreed upon (i.e., an editorial letter, marginal comments, an edited story with line edits using track changes, etc. . .).

10. Acceptance of Terms

By engaging the services of the Editor, the Writer acknowledges and agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
